Marketing Shaq vs Kobe, Round 3a
Not quite a direct comparison, but oh well… Since we’re talking marketing, how about fan attendance for respective NBA teams, the Heat and the Lakers? Shaq vs Kobe, Round 3a.
Roughly a third of 81-game season has gone by with the Heat playing 31 games and the Lakers 29. Here are the attendance stats from ESPN.
If I were a fan, I’d rather see the Heat with their players (JWill, the Glove, Toine, Flash, Zo) rather than the Lakers (Odom, Smush Parker?!, Mihm, Brian Cook). So Round 3a, game attendance, goes to Shaquille. (Shaq 2, Kobe 1)
Round 1, Team Jersey Sales (Shaq)
Round 2, Kicks (Kobe)

Kobe Bryant still has not matured as a NBA Professional. I guess he still has a great deal of PR work to do…. That elbow shot to a fellow NBA player only proves that he has not learned. Not to be a Kobe hater but if you are in the “Entertainment Business” elbow shots does not show him taking the “high road!” Is that how you play the game… Very dirty.
The other coin SHAQ only fuels the fued by not looking, shaking Kobe’s hand very strange…. What sign does that send to all the young kids out there.
OK enough of that subject….. I guess I’m a jealous fool wanting to be a NBA basketball star as soon as I grow up. I could have been a NBA star if I was “talented, tall, coordinated and could play ball that was worth a damn…..
Happy New Year…

Yeah, that shot to Mike Miller’s throat was derrty as can be. No way that could have been an accident.
And Kobe’s comments after the game (although true) didn’t help his case. Phil Jackson who had to deal with Dennis “the Worm” Rodman knew Kobe was in trouble with his after game comments.
Shaq not shaking Kobe’s hand? Kinda expected that one. Not cool but Shaq does get his message across. I’d take a not cool over dirty anyday. Hmmm, so does this give another point to Shaq in my Marketing Shaq vs Kobe?
