Went with NetNewsWire
A little while ago, I learned about another news aggregator, Endo. As a NetNewsWire Lite user, I gave it a shot to see how it compared. Unfortunately, I could never get used to Endo and kept falling back to using NetNewsWire.
Something about Endo’s interface I just couldn’t overcome. With the two-pane layout of Endo, I always felt like I was using an extra keystroke to expand my collapsed feeds in order to see the headlines. With the three-pane layout of NNW, clicking on a feed would show the highlights in a separate pane with the third pane reserved for the article itself.
I guess I missed it, but the full, paid version of NNW has the ability to synchronize feeds among different computers as well. The .Mac sync feature was the main reason I wanted to check out Endo, but that feature was not available on the trial version. NNW can or will be able to sync with Bloglines and Newsgator as well.
So instead of going with Endo, I’m sticking with NetNewsWire, but I purchased the full version since there’s a sale going on right now. My blog toolkit now includes NetNewsWire for blog/RSS reading and Ecto for blog writing.
