Apple’s iTV, I Get It
Spent the weekend catching up on missed television show as the new TV season is here. Most of the shows I had on tape, but others I missed, taped over, or simply didn’t record not knowing what they’re about like Ugly Betty. So instead of hunting for reruns (which are getting rare with all the new shows and reality TV), I turned to the Internet to download the missed episodes.
Getting shows from the Internet is a whole topic in itself, but it does serve a valuable purpose. Just ask Myong. But once you download the show, then what?
Here’s what I do:
- Copy the show (300+ MB) to a removable hard drive
- Attach the removable drive to my laptop and copy the file to the laptop
- Take the laptop to the living room with the TV
- Attach audio and video cables from my laptop to the TV
- Change screen resolution on laptop for TV viewing
- Start the video
- Change audio volume
- Change screen size of video to full screen
- Now run to the couch to watch the show
- An interruption? Run to the laptop and pause the show
- Take care of the interruption
- Resume playing on the laptop
- Run back to the couch
What a pain! There’s got to be a better, more elegant way, and there is. It’s called Apple’s iTV (so far at least), and I can’t wait.
Front Row navigation of ALL your content (music, videos, movies, television shows, and pictures). A simple remote that can control all of this. iTV, I get it.
