What’s with KHON2’s New Site?
What’s with KHON2’s new web site? I don’t go there often, but it’s very different from the last time I visited. I don’t like it.
Doesn’t work well in Safari. The search box disappears on me. The big blue Breaking News section is not clickable/linked so it’s a waste of time. That middle column that has the Weather info has nothing else in it (what a waste of space!). Oh wait, on other pages, this white space is filled with Google Ads. Not sure how I feel about Google Ads on a news station web site. Kust doesn’t feel right and what would Google use as keywords to target the ads? I can understand the Dr. Phil and Oprah ads since these shows air on KHON.
Never did like scrolling banners on web sites. Just seems strange. Okay on TV where I sit there and simply watch a TV without interacting with it. But on a computer where I use a mouse and keyboard, it seems strange to sit back and watch the scrolling banner when my learned instincts with web sites is to click on something.
Only good thing I can see is the addition of their own video footage on the site.

I know what you mean about the scrolling banner. People had one but it was such a pain to have to wait and see as it scrolled the latest news headlines sooo slowly. You know how important that can be! Better to just see a listing of the latest with links to the articles which they already had too. Maybe a reason why they don’t have the banner anymore.

Good point about just showing the latest news links right in front of my face instead of me having to wait for it to scroll by.
