Mac Media Capsule? iTV+ TiVo?
A little early for Apple rumors with the MacWorld Expo coming up in January, but oh well… Apple may be working with TiVo to include TiVo functionality in the future iTV product. The iTV name is not set and the product may be renamed as the Mac Media Capsule.
Inclusion of a PVR function would make buying the iTV Mac Media Capsule a no brainer at $300. Access all my content (pictures, movies, television shows, videos) stored on my computer AND record TV shows? This is the device we’ve been waiting for.

Would apple criple iTunes “pay” for TV download by allowing you to copy your own TV shows. Just a thought

Good question. Not sure, but I think the biggest thing is the advertisements. When you buy shows from iTunes, you don’t get any commercials. If you PVR the show, you’ll still get commercials so I don’t know if Apple has any beef with the PVR thing. Only advertisers would really care.
And I don’t know if the PVR is for higher quality TV like HDTV or for regular analog TV. If so, then maybe TV shows from iTunes for a little better quality would still be valid.
Or the last argument is who cares since Apple would probably make more money selling the iTV hardware than selling shows. Like the iPod, Apple makes the bucks selling the hardware and make a little bit selling the music. More functionality in the iTV could lead to better hardware sales.
