Macworld Expo Name Calling
With the announcements made at Macworld Expo 2007, there were a few changes in names thrown in. Did you catch them?
First off, I made this mistake calling it MacWorld, not the correct name of Macworld (with a lowercase w). But there were no Macs at Macworld.
The iTV is now the Apple TV, but the Apple TV is really the
. Prince would be proud.
The iPhone is the iPhone, but not that iPhone.
Despite its popularity and demand, the iPhone is not gold. Gold is currently going for $19.65 per gram. The 135-gram iPhone would be valued at $2,652.75, but instead costs $599 for the 8-GB model.
Airport Extreme X2 and X4 must be codenames for Apple’s latest Airport Extreme wireless basestation that features 802.11a/b/g and the upcoming 802.11n standard.
Apple is literally calling Target the next target for music sales. Sales from the iTunes Store surpassed Amazon at the #4 spot.
Call the ringtone industry done. Why buy a ringtone for your cell phone when you got gigs of music on your iPhone?
Apple Computer is now called Apple, Inc., dropping the “Computer” from its namesake. Since Apple deals in all kinds of insanely great stuff, having computer in their name kinda limited them, no?
It’s too late to call your stockbroker to purchase AAPL stock. Apple’s stock has been climbing since the announcement of the iPhone.
RIM’s Blackberry and Palm’s Treo smartphones can now be called paperweights.
Windows Home Server needs a new name. Seriously, Windows Home Server?
Call the Zune a dodo bird as it’s going the way of the Sony Bean.
