Wanted: New Earphones
While out running the other day, my Nike VaporFlight earphones broke. The part that goes over your ear came off, either the screw came loose or the plastic cracked, but needless to say, I need new earphones for running and working out.
I haven’t tried running with the supplied Apple earbuds since I’m guessing these will fall out while running and are not water/sweat resistant. Sweating is not a problem for me. Looking on-line, there doesn’t seem to be too many earphones designed for working out. iLounge reviews several earphones and two look promising – the Sony MDR-EX81 earphones and the Sennheiser OMX70 Clip-On Stereo Sport Headphones.
The Sony earphones sound like a better product with good sound quality and great comfort, but these fit in your ear canal to block out external noise. While running on the roads, I think I’d want to hear some outside sounds for safety reasons. Instead, I’ll go look for the Sennheiser headphones. Although there are some complaints that the wiring is fragile, you gotta love that green color!
Anyone has any recommendations?

Hear is what I like about the Sony earphones: they normally come with an extension, so what I do is take off the extension and just use the ear buds with the SHORT cord. As soon as someone makes a water resistant case for the new shuffle, I’d like to get one and clip the shuffle to my cap, and use with the short Sony cord. Also, my headphones have been aggressively by the elements for a year and they still work. Sound is OK. My 2 cents.

I think the Sennheiser has an extension cord too. I think I had my Nike earphones for about a year before they broke. They were cheap so I got value out of one year.
I don’t expect great sound but don’t really need it while running. Just need tunes to help me forget about the pain.
