Will the Appeal of Julianne Hough Make Her a DWTS Champion?
Now that my favorite Dancing with the Stars performer, Cheryl Burke, is out of the competition, who will win this year’s Disco Ball trophy?
In 2006, searches on Pulpconnection poured in for Finalists Karina Smirnoff, Cheryl Burke, and Edyta Sliwinska. Cheryl Burke got the least number of searches but still ended up winning the competition with Emmitt Smith.
Early on this season, searches for Julianne Hough and Kym Johnson easily set the pace. Using Google Analytics revamped interface, I checked visits to Pulpconnection with the keywords of “julianne,” “kym,” and “laila” for the female finalists of Julianne Hough, Kym Johnson, and Laila Ali. Here are the results:
Starting in March 2007, searches for “julianne” racked up 362 visits (comprising 7.29% of all visits to Pulpconnection). Searches for “kym” brought in 184 visits (3.71%) while keyword “laila” only garnered 8 visits (0.16%).
Obviously, Julianne Hough has a lot of interest. But can this appeal make her this season’s DWTS champion or will Laila with the least number of searches steal the trophy? Find out this week as the Finals of Dancing with the Stars airs tonight and the 2007 champion is crowned on Tuesday night.
