Looking at Season Six of Dancing with the Stars
The next set of Dancing Stars were announced Tuesday morning and now the professional pairings have been finalized. Let’s take a look…
Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough. I don’t know what to make of Adam Carolla, other than he’s representing the common guy. He ain’t the handsomest guy unlike Wayne’s World and he ain’t an athlete so I don’t know if he has the moves. Partnering with two time DWTS champion, Julianne Hough, immediately gets the duo into the mid rounds unless Adam is a complete disaster on the dance floor. Adam’s quite a bit taller than Julianne, and I don’t know if the height difference will be problematic.
Cristian De La Fuente and Cheryl Burke. Cristian is an international film star born in Chile. If he has some South American rhythm and vibe, he might do well with the first two-time DWTS champion, Cheryl Burke. Cristian’s angle must be the international eye candy.
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough. Another power pairing for Season Six. Initially, I thought the selection of Shannon Elizabeth to the show was to attract and connect with the younger generation. Then I found out she’s 35 years old, not quite the young foreign exchange student I remember from American Pie. Still though, I’m sure she’ll appeal to the male demographic samba-ing in barely there outfits. Derek, like his sister Julianne, is a great choreographer so this matchup could be dazzling.
Steve Guttenberg and Anna Trebunskaya. Steve, where ya been since patrolling the streets in Police Academy? Steve represents the blast from the past on Dancing with the Stars. I can’t wait to see his Police Academy cohorts in the audience during the show. Remember Michael Winslow who did all those sound effects? At age 50, I hope Steve’s been keeping in shape for his upcoming performances. Anna hasn’t been a power player on DWTS so I’m not expecting much from this duo.
Penn Jillette and Kym Johnson. Magician Penn of Penn & Teller is the oldest guy of the bunch at 53. He looks like a big guy with Wikipedia saying he’s 6-6. He better bring some magical stage presence and bust out tricks for his performances since age and physical abilities may not be on his side. Kym is another great professional partner and made it to the DWTS Finals for Season Four, losing to Apolo Ohno and Julianne Hough. She has the personality to be the magician’s assistant to Penn’s performances.
Mario and Karina Smirnoff. From Mario Lopez to just “Mario,” Karina Smirnoff is dancing with the youngest contestant this season. I think Mario is in his early twenties, about 22? Mario is known for his R&B ballad, Let Me Love You, and I’m guessing the young brotha got some grooving. A young’en with the fierce Smirnoff will be an up and down ride for weeks to come.
Ooops, got to go. More to come…
