Pepsi Stuff is a Rip!
Yes, I was an avid supporter of Pepsi’s partnership with iTunes giving away free music during the Superbowl. Then Pepsi changed alliances, leaving Apple and going with Amazon. Yeah, I like Amazon, but I think the current Pepsi Stuff promotion is a rip off.
Plain and simple, here’s why. While shopping the other day, I saw a 12 pack of Pepsi featuring the Pepsi Stuff logo, so I figured I’d get one to check it out. I open the box and see a redemption code good for 2 points! Two measly points!! One, two for 144 oz of Pepsi. The 12 pack wasn’t on sale or anything and cost me $4.18, closer to $5 after the HI5 recycling fees. So for $5 spent, I get 2 Pepsi points.
What kind of Pepsi Stuff can 2 points get you? Nada. Well, you can enter their sweepstakes giveaway twice (one point per entry) where you could win all kinds of great stuff. Amazon MP3 singles cost 5 points, so even if you wanted to support a local musician whose music is available on Amazon, you’d need to buy a ton of Pepsi. To at least buy a $0.99 single, you’d need to get three 12 packs, costing around $15 (or less if on sale). The entire CD costs $9! And no, I don’t consider having all that Pepsi to drink an equal trade.
In previous promotions, you had a 1 in 3 chance of outright winning a free song from a $1.25, 20-oz bottle of Pepsi. So say I bought 5 bottles for $6.25, I would have 100 oz of Pepsi to drink and probably one single, maybe more if I’m lucky. I like that deal better than spending $15 for a guaranteed single and 432 oz of Pepsi (and 5400 calories!).
Maybe I shoulda read the rules before participating. You really gotta like Pepsi to play in this promotion.

Duh. It’s not like this is a contest that you can win stuff from. It’s just an added bonus for Pepsi drinkers. You’d be stupid to buy all that Pepsi just to get the free song. But if you’re buying the Pepsi anyway, then the song is an added bonus.

But it is a promotion where you can win stuff from, stuff like trips, home entertainment systems, MP3 players, and camcorders.
And since this is a promotion, doesn’t Pepsi want to promote their product and brand to new customers, not just the customers they already have? Yes, Pepsi drinkers have an added bonus, but I don’t think the incentive is there anymore to lure in new customers and sales.
But then again, remember I was spoiled by their previous music promotions. And during those winning times, I did buy more Pepsi products then ever before.

The promotion goes for the rest of the year. I drink a ton of pepsi anyways, but hey, now I can get some cool free DVD sets throughout the year! I also find those yellow caps from the bottles everywhere, I’ve saved up over 60 points already (enough for a REAL cd, not mp3s…)
BTW you can send away for 3 (I believe) codes for free, as this is “no purchase necessary”. So for 3 points you pay the price of a stamp. That’s no good for mp3s, but for stuff like DVD sets (90 points), that’s pretty good.

In this promotion if you buy 5 bottles for $6.25 you would have a guaranteed MP3. I guess I don’t see much difference. LOL
I also don’t know why you would pay $4 something for a 12 pack. Pepsi is almost always on sale somewhere.
I really have no interest in the MP3s. I save my points for the DVDs, have gotten 4 of them so far and have enough to get 1 more.

My Coke Rewards has a ringtone for 45 points.
That’s 15 bottles of coke, or 2.5 12-packs. Just for a ringtone.
I got a few dvd sets already with my pepsi points. Coke points have almost nothing good.
Maybe you need to learn to buy on sale/find caps people are just going to throw away anyways?

MASNART 5891:
I feel all of your pain here. 20Oz Pepsi costs $1.00-$1.89 wherever you buy it. For 1 point credit. Times 5 would equil…$5.-$9.45. Mp3 Downloads cost .99 cents. The Smart thing to do is pay the .99 Cents and get your download.
However if you look for some caps in the trash or even a litterbug who throws his bottle on the ground, Pick it up and get the cap. He paid for it, Not you.
