Figure Skaters to be Banned on Dancing with the Stars?
It was only a matter of time, but Kristi Yamaguchi and partner Mark Ballas received the first perfect score of Season 6 of Dancing with the Stars. As Kristi and Mark continue to dominate this season, I can feel the show’s producers making a mental note never to invite a figure skater, especially an Olympic Gold Medalist, to compete again. Sorry Nancy Kerrigan.
Kristi is making it look so easy, and the show is turning out to be everyone versus Kristi. In all the pre-dance vignettes, everyone mentions something about going after Kristi.
With four weeks of competition left, you can definitely see the separation of dance skill levels. I’m sorry, but it’s time for Marlee Matlin to go. She’s had a great run, but she’s not part of the elite group that should be facing each other. Same with Shannon Elizabeth. If she’s going to stay in the game, then as a poker player, she’s got to go all in and pray for a great flop, turn, and river.
Jason Taylor and Edyta had a mediocre night but still don’t have to worry. Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke’s sophisticated foxtrot showed they still belong along with Mario and Karina whose overly hot rumba split the judges’ decisions. Even Marissa Jaret Winokur is making strides balancing her showman personality and dance style, but is she part of the elite? I don’t think so.
