Mac Office 2008 Is Too Slow
After upgrading to the latest Mac Office 2008, I think I’m about to revert back to the older 2004 version. The latest Office suite is sooo slow on my MacBook Pro (2 GHz Core Duo and 2 GB RAM). Word, Excel, and PowerPoint take forever to start up.
And even once started, performance of these apps is sluggish. I’ve also come across memory issues running 2008. In Excel, I’ve actually had low memory errors several times. No problems with Excel 2004. This is the first time I’ve had memory issues on my MBP.
The only app I might keep around is the newest Entourage. It’s still slow, but seems better able to handle my gigs of email that I’ve collected over the years. Entourage 2004 kept stalling and occasionally crapping out, but so far so good with Entourage 2008.
I also have Office 2008 installed (legitimately) on my home iMac and that feels slow as well, but that’s a new machine!

The same thing. I wanna cry while opening a document. I use neooffice for daily work. It is quite better in speed and less use of system resources.

Its amazing how people have become their own police. Perhaps you should ask for permission to speak also. Boy the seeds of totalitarianism are certainly here. Bill Gates has 40 billion dollars to his name (a single person). Yet, poverty prevails in a land that claims to be the richest in the world. And you actually believe that an ‘illegitimate’ installation of office hurts him? No wonder Hitler rose to power. People defend and even protect those who oppress them. they are more concerned for those who are far better off than themselves. And the saddest part is that none of you can even see it. You’d more readily hate on me than those who benefit off of your misery. Slavery never looked so fine.
