NBA Draft Picks and Kicks
Despite getting paid well to ball in the NBA, the real money lies in endorsements and the recent NBA Draft picks of 2008 aren’t wasting any time. Of the top picks, OJ Mayo was the first to sign, going with Nike. No big surprise there. Is OJ good enough to warrant his own signature line? Air OJ? Air Mail (as in Mayo)?
Now, Derrick Rose, the first overall pick in ’08, continues his affiliation with Adidas.
How about the rest of the top five Draft picks? I see the jokester, Michael Beasley, representing Converse along with Heat teammate Dwyane Wade. Beasley does his own thing so why not?
The fourth and fifth picks, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Love, were both from the Adidas-donned UCLA Bruins. K-Love is probably best to stay with the three stripes since big men just don’t market well with the Swoosh. I don’t know which kicks co. matches guard Russell Westbrook. He could go with a smaller name like Reebok, New Balance, or k1x, but Sonics teammate Kevin Durant might convince Westbrook to say “Just do it!” I can see Westbrook as a Hyperdunk kind of guy.
