From Intense Debate to Disqus
I’ve used the Intense Debate commenting system since November 2009, and it’s worked well enough. But… it wasn’t what I exactly wanted. Sure, functionally, it performed as advertised, but small things added up. The full featured comment interface looked cluttered and only recently, registered comments and trackbacks were not showing up completely. You would see them in the Recent Comments sidebar widget, but the post itself wouldn’t display the comment.
Enter Disqus. This is another popular commenting system that has similar features as Intense Debate. I’ve always envied the look of Disqus’ commenting section, and with some compunction, I made the switch. Don’t get me wrong. I’m still a fan of Automattic products like WordPress, VaultPress, Gravatar, PollDaddy, and more, but it’s time to disqus.

Cool. I’m a fan of Automattic, but I think Disqus is simply a more mature platform and, obviously, considerably more widespread. And just this week they unveiled their commenter profiles!

Commenter profile? Have to read up on that, only did a cursory look at additional Disqus features. And thanks for the prodding to look at Disqus!
