ProBlogger’s Post About Free WordPress Plugins
Over on the popular ProBlogger blog, there’s a post asking readers what their favorite (free) WordPress plugins are. It’s interesting to see what are the popular ones. Some new ones for me include Broken Link Checker and CommentLuv.
Sadly Broken Link Checker isn’t cooperating with my install of WP 3.0.1, giving me database errors. I’ve seen CommentLuv as an add-on to Intense Debate, but since I’ve moved to Disqus, CommentLuv no longer seems like an option.
What would be my top 5 free WordPress plugins?
- WP Super Cache. Just a little tricky to set up, but absolutely necessary to maintain a smooth operation and reduce WP resources.
- WPtouch iPhone Theme. Easily “mobilize” your blog.
- Similar Posts. Helps readers find related content.
- Advertising Manager. To easier manage, ads and their placement.
- YOURLS. Because it’s fun to have your own custom URL shortener!
I consider Akismet and Google XML Sitemaps as core essential plugins, and therefore, exempt from this list. 😉
