My Education in Project Management
When I was thrown into the the world of project management back in 2001, I had no clue what that was. Coming from a technical, hands-on background, I didn’t have the education or training to prepare myself for this new discipline. Of course, I sucked at it since I didn’t know anything about schedules, Gantt charts, stakeholders, risks, etc.
During this dark stressful time, these three books were my salvation.
- Project Management For Dummies (For Dummies (Business & Personal Finance))
- The Accidental Project Manager: Surviving the Transition from Techie to Manager
- Microsoft Project User’s Guide (it’s actually pretty good, explaining the principles of project management and not just showing how to use the software)
I’m still salty at the whole experience…
