Needing Air in the Air
And it finally hits me! I look down at my arm and wonder what that little spot is. Of course! I had donated blood two weeks ago before leaving for Shaver Lake, CA. And I’m guessing that loss of blood is what caused my mid-air medical incident.
I thought it was the red-eye flight that was too much, coupled with the preceding packing and excitement. With one hour left in the flight to SFO, I didn’t feel good at all. I was cold but sweating at the same time. I walked back to the flight attendants to get some water, and they remarked how I didn’t look too good. They quickly sat me down and got an oxygen tank for me. Sucking in the O2 made me feel a lot better relatively quickly.
Eventually, I made it back to my seat with oxygen tank in tow, thanks to the great attendants of United Airlines. They comforted my family and made several inquiries if I needed medical attention upon landing, and even after arrival, they watched over me as I deplaned feeling considerably better. So note to self, don’t donate blood before flying.
