Catching Some Blogging Heat
At work today, I got an email about a blog post I wrote on our internal blogging system. I had ranted about how a web site could be improved with simple fixes.
This post made the rounds and offense was taken, and email started about the non-professionalism of blogs (as a whole, not just my post).
Tomorrow may be an interesting day…

I’ll also just add that nobody is forcing anyone to read the blog, which by definition according to Merriam-Webster Online is “a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer”.
Damn, I’m missing out on the controversial content!

I must’ve missed this post… But you know, I really don’t understand how critiquing a site is ‘unprofessional’. If they mean that feelings will get hurt, then so be it. I guess that means every review blog out there is ‘unprofessional.’
The problem with the organization we work for is that nobody is allowed to critique… and services aren’t developed with the customer in mind, or if they are, I’m just wondering how the requirements were gathered. I think blogs keep people on their toes and open a dialogue, whether critical or not, about how to continuously improve. 🙂
