Do Like the Doula Do
Never heard of a doula until recently, but according to Wikipedia, a doula is a “trained and experienced labor support persons who attend to the emotional and physical comfort needs of laboring women to smooth the labor process.”
While the doula does no medical tasks, they support the birthing process. So I guess you do la the doula do.

Actually had thought about using a doula but then thought I don’t need any help, I can do it all by myself…LOL! No epidural but might’ve been better than a sleeping SO.

Well I guess it wasn’t as bad as I made it sound. MSO was sleeping in the late part of the night/early morning when I had the more mild contractions (and I was trying to sleep too) but I felt a little alone going through it especially since our nurse was an English-as-a-second-language woman who was not very personable at all. She was the one that suggested I take the drugs, giving me the speech about how I could distress the baby,…so later on I was going to take the epidural for the baby’s sake but it was too late. Good thing there was a shift change and the nurse that helped bring our child into the world was much better. Sure wish I had my doctor there though. I had the back up of the back up. =S
