I’m a Bloggie Panelist!
Earlier in the month, the Weblog “Bloggie” Awards nomination process for 2006 was announced. People could nominate their favorite blogs in various categories.
While I had a feeling that my favorite sites wouldn’t make the cut, I signed up as a volunteer panelist to judge nominated blogs, and hey, I got chosen! I had to review the most nominated blogs in a few (not all) categories and then pick what I thought were the best five in each category. The 10 (out of 30) categories I had to review:
- webapplication
- european
- latinamerican
- tagline
- craft
- politics
- topical
- humorous
- group
- lifetime
Not sure how the categories were divvied up since some sites were in foreign languages, but it’s all good. Saw lots of excellent sites with tremendous dedication put into them. I based my votes on fresh content, catchiness, and usability/appearance.
The Bloggie finalists were supposed to be announced yesterday but have to be a little patient. Once the finalists are announced, there’s another round of voting (until January 31) to pick the winners. The 2006 winners will be revealed between March 13 and 15.

Did you get any gifts yet? You know how it works its not what you show, it’s how full your pockets get. Just ask anyone working as a lobbist in Washington.

I ain’t getting squat. I’m just a finalist voter but was fun just to participate. Seeing some of the top sites was cool. Some serious designs out there.
