Spoiling The Last Stand of the X-Men
I’m by no means a professional movie critic, and heck, I haven’t seen a flick in about a year (Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith was the last one I think). I got a chance to watch X-Men: The Last Stand on opening day and instead of writing a review, how about spoiling the movie? A few notes before I get into it. $6.25 for a matinee? Wow, prices have come up. And the movie is rated PG-13 for good reason. Don’t bring kids to watch this movie. Even though it’s based on a comic book, the movie rendition is not for kids. If you’re planning on watching the movie then stop reading. If you want the spoilers, continue after the image below.
Okay, you all set? Here we go. They all die! Okay, not all of them, but X-Men do die in the movie. What a shocker! I sat there stunned thinking the deaths was just a weird, fake dream sequence or something, but no. Cyclops (Scott Summers), Professor X, and Jean Grey (Phoenix) all go down in The Last Stand. Jean Grey plays a pivotal part of the movie, rising as the Dark Phoenix. With limitless power, the Dark Phoenix slays Cyclops with a kiss and obliterates Xavier in a chess match of their minds. A few evil mutants die as well, but who cares. Magneto is “cured” of his abilities which seem to be returning at the very end of the movie (paving a way for sequels). Thanks to his regenerative healing ability, Wolverine saves the day from the out of control Dark Phoenix. If you’re still interested, go see the movie for its intense action sequences that helped break some box-office records.
Update: Looks like a fourth installment of the X-Men is set.

Not just three simple blades! These are made from adamantium, an industructible metal!! That powered by Logan’s emotional outburst of having to stop the Dark Phoenix is a potent combination.
And oh yeah, the Dark Phoenix is still a human mutant without any physical strengths or invincibility.
