Perhaps this is the second sign of excess during the holidays. The first sign was a worn out toilet handle. Now comes the search for a better chair that offers more support, specifically the Steelcase Amia. Steelcase has some great chairs but at great prices, but the Amia is somewhat affordable, especially if it lasts for years. Unfortunately, if I were to buy one, I think I’d have to purchase the Amia without trying it out beforehand.
Maybe this is a sign of too much good eating over the holidays. The handle on our Toto toilet is breaking with small plastic pieces falling out. The lever and handle itself looks fine. It’s just the inner plastic connection that’s breaking. Better to change it out before we’re down a toilet during these critical times.
Just a reminder to myself that Target locations in Hawaii do not price match online stores. They’ll price match target.com but not other sites like Amazon.com. On the mainland, it’s a different story, but be wary of the “except Alaska and Hawaii” exemption clauses.
So if you ever need to upgrade your cable modem to take advantage of Oceanic’s newer faster speeds, you can’t just go to Target, hoping they’ll sell you the $120 Motorola SB6183 cable modem at the $90 Amazon price. Just won’t happen. Even with a 10% electronics coupon, Amazon is still cheaper.
Has anyone ordered new items from Amazon (not another vendor via Amazon) but received a used item instead? What did you do with the item?
As part of a hardware upgrade, I purchased an inexpensive Canon scanner, the CanoScan LiDE 220. When I opened the box, I found a few additional items – Post-it notes of reminders and bills.
Looking at the packing list, it looks like all the items are there, but I haven’t yet tried out the scanner itself. If it does work, should I keep it or simply return it on principle? The scanner was unlocked during shipping so I don’t know if this will have operational repercussions later.
Coloring books are not just for kids any more. Start off with the popular Secret Garden created by none other than Johanna Basford of the Starbucks inky red cup fame. These intricate coloring books are made for the eyes, penstrokes, focus, and patience of adults.
One of the unexpected side effects of the recent and prolonged hot and humid weather is the need for more ice. The refrigerator’s built-in ice maker just can’t handle the demand. With a family of Sahara water bottles, there are days when the ice bin goes empty, so it’s time to go old school with some basic ice trays.
Who knew buying ice trays are now so complicated. Silicon versus plastic. Covered or non-covered. Residue, freezer burn, cracking. I’ll go simple with this Rubbermaid Easy Release Ice Cube Tray.
Ahead of the formal announcment of the latest iPhones, the rumored iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, protective cases are already available for sale. Spigen is advertising their pre-release selection on Amazon and at a reduced price. I don’t get how this is happening, but hey, Spigen is based out of Irvine, CA so all is good, right?
Of the current offerings, I’m leaning towards the Neo Hybrid EX with the clear back and colored bumper. Since we’re looking at the rose gold iPhone, the case needs to be transparent to showcase that color. My hesitation is that the bumper color won’t match the actual iPhone tone this early in production. But prices are nearly 50% off, so a $17 investment isn’t too damaging to protect a $700+ iPhone.
Wait, what? No free shipping on Amazon and not eligible for Prime?!? Add $5 for standard shipping with arrival in October? Pass for now…
But wait, Spigen has a store on eBay as well. Prices are comparable or even better than Amazon, and shipping is free (but still delayed until early October).
Do I dare stray from my workhorse of a shoe for the workplace? It’s been a constant to restock on Rockport Northfield Oxfords, but after reading some of the Amazon reviews, I do agree that the quality of this model has come down over the years. While I haven’t experienced any issues with the soles, the laces do fray very easily usually within the first month. The laces haven’t actually broken on me but to have them start coming apart only after several wearings is a bummer.
So instead, I’m taking a look at the similar looking Rugged Bucks Plain Toe. Not as many reviews but still rated at 4.5 stars. That and there’s an Amazon discount of 20%. Will the Rugged Bucks become my defacto work shoe?
