So far, moving Pulpconnection from Blogger to WordPress has been painful with regards to site visits. Here’s stats from Sitemeter showing the change from December 10, 2008 to January 9, 2009.
I started making changes on December 23. Starting in 2009, things really went downhill. Hopefully, this WordPress migration starts paying off soon.
Just another test to see if things are actually working. Â The move is going to mess up Pulpconnection’s Google rank… temporarily I hope.
Still have a lot of things to do after moving Pulpconnection from Blogger to WordPress.

Blogger rolled out a new feature today, letting blog readers follow comments via email. For each post, there’s now a “Email follow-up comments to:” field where you specify your Gmail address to receive updates of the post’s comments.
Yes, you can only use a Gmail account for email subscriptions. Still though, very useful for tracking active conversations like what’s going on at Easier Said Than Done.

Blogger’s recent problem with non-updating comment feeds is still there, but there’s a small hack that is better than nothing.
This ‘?start-index=2’ hack also works for modified comment feeds from Hackosphere and Beautiful Beta.
Something weird happened to some RSS feeds for comments on Blogger blogs. Old comments are now stuck as the most recent comments. Blogger knows about it but hasn’t been able to resolve the problem yet.
Until then, the “Recently Said” sidebar section will continue to show old comments and not the latest. Sorry.

I made the jump and changed Pulpconnection’s URL to take advantage of Blogger’s custom domain feature. Instead of being “pulpconnection.blogspot.com” this site can now be reached at www.pulpconnection.net.
But I think all the links and previous blogspot address still work (or that’s what Blogger say anyways).
A huge missing feature from Blogger is no more. Blogger is now offering the ability to have Blogspot blogs hosted using your own custom domain name. No more blogname.blogspot.com. You can have your Blogger blog available at blogname.com.
WordPress.com offered this custom domain feature some time ago with a fee (about $10 a year). Looks like Blogger is still going the free route, offering their custom domains for free. You still need to pay a domain registrar to own a domain, but at least you don’t have to pay extra to connect your Blogger blog with that domain name.

The move to the new Blogger Beta is on. What happens now?
One of the complaints I got about blogging, especially commenting on blogs, is remembering to check back for additional comments. I would love if there were a good way of tracking comments and getting notified if others make comments as well. The new service coComment is trying to address this so I decided to give it a try.
coComment is sorta what I’m looking for but the biggest thing is coComment will only track comments placed by coComment users. For coComment to work, you need to install a “bookmarklet” for your supported browser and blogging service. Before you submit your comment, you click on the coComment bookmarklet that updates your coComment account. When you visit the coComment site, you’ll see all your comments from every blog you made comments on. Of course, you can get an RSS feed of your comments as well.
