From November 18-21 between the hours of 2-5pm, Holiday drinks are buy one, get one free at Starbucks locations.

It’s so obvious, it’s a wonder this took so long! Soon enough, you can enjoy Starbucks coffee on the high seas with a full fledged Starbucks bar on Caribbean International’s Allure of the Seas.
Yes, these super cruise liners serve coffee and most even have their own specialty coffee bars, but you couldn’t get an authentic Frappuccino or Caramel Macchiato. I’d be afraid of the prices though, and since you charge everything to your state room, the ease of buying can easily rack up a sizable caffeinated bill!
Today’s coffee salvation comes from Illy in a canned form. Don’t shake the Cappuccino.
… the now-defunct line of Starbucks canned iced coffee. Available at your favorite Costco is illy issimo Cappuccino, but of course, being Costco, the canned coffee drink only comes in a 12-pack.
The drink isn’t bad, but it’s not very distinguishable. A 8.45-oz can contains 100 calories and 64 mg of caffeine and a mean coffee aftertaste.
I’d rather try illy’s Latte Macchiato and its “smooth and silky swirl of fresh espresso taste perfectly blended with a hint of velvety milk and sugar.” But I have a feeling this drink hasn’t hit Hawaii yet.

It’s official. Starbucks has announced their customizable Frappuccino blended drinks where you can get one however you want it. To see what customizable options there are, go to Frappuccino.com and design your dream drink. You can then share your creation with the Frap community. Even better, you can sample your custom drink for half price during Happy Hour which goes from May 7-16 from 3 to 5 pm.
After doing the Distortion, I sampled the smooth citrus of Mountain Dew White Out.
White Out looks like a cloud and has a familiar taste… I know, it’s like the lemon lime of Sprite! Yup, White Out reminds me of Sprite and is much smoother to drink than the tart Distortion. Oddly enough, the sweet-tasting White Out has 10 less calories than Distortion, packing 280 calories in the 20-oz bottle with an equal amount of 91 mg of caffeine.
So far, Mountain Dew White Out has the nod over Distortion.
Mountain Dew is at it once again, testing new flavors. Have you seen them? There’s the Typhoon, Distortion, and White Out.
The first Dew I sampled is the radioactive green Distortion. This drink is green, a cosmic glowing green, and is described as “Lime Blasted.” I have to agree with that. The Distortion is limey tart and not any sweeter than normal Mtn Dew.
For me, the tartness makes the Distortion difficult to drink. The smoothness is gone though this might make a great Slurpee syrup. Content-wise, it’s classic Mountain Dew, packing 290 HFCS-filled calories in 20-oz along with 91 mg of caffeine.
I don’t think Distortion will get my Dewmocracy vote, but it does make a catchy Twitter background image.
When your Venti-sized Starbucks just isn’t enough caffeine, here comes the trenta. This 31-oz iced tea or coffee is being tested in select areas.
But no, you cannot get your favorite latte-based or frap drinks in the trenta, only iced coffee or tea. Can you imagine the calories in a trenta-sized frappuccino??
I’m throwing back Mountain Dew’s new old Throwback made with real sugar. This is probably the same recipe for the original Mountain Dew Throwback, but this Throwback has a throwback can design.
The flavor of this Throwback is the same as the previous Throwback, smooth and flat, but when opening the can, it actually fizzled with dew spewing out.

I didn’t think Starbuck’s java would be so potent, even at 12 oz of the brew. So that 16-oz grande must really get you popping! Usually, the little canned Starbucks Doubleshot gets me jumpy, but that’s still weaker than most vendors’ coffees. I’m guessing that the iced coffee at Starbucks has essentially the same caffeine content as its hot counterpart. I wonder how my preferred Royal Mills Iced Cappuccino rates?
And what memories! Royal Mills Kona Espresso was so good, but now remembering the taste alludes me. 🙁
