The University of Hawaii Warrior football team is going to its first ever BCS bowl game, playing the Bulldogs of Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. To celebrate this rare feat by the home team, Pulpconnection is having its last contest of the year based on the Warriors’ sweet journey to the Sugar Bowl.

How do you enter the contest? It’s easy. Just suggest a song with any of the following words in the name, artist, or album name. Here are the words:

  • sugar
  • sweet
  • warrior
  • dog

Simple no? One song submission per avid Pulpconnection fan, and the winner will be randomly selected from the entries. Deadline is Friday, December 14. Shipping to a very limited area is possible, and I define that limited area. 😉

What can you win? Some naughty and nice prizes! We’re talking a Starbucks gift card, “almost” hand picked Starbucks & iTunes music, and a 2008 Club 939 customized calendar. And there may be a few more naughty and nice surprises…

This is a quick contest spurred on by Coco Bean’s frivolous comment about wanting to win Britney Spears’ latest CD, Blackout. The Winner of the SuperBowl Sunday Giveaway Is…

And by random drawing, the winner of the Pulpconnection SuperBowl Sunday Giveaway is the Tabasco Man.

How was the Tabasco Man picked? Each person with a Listmania nomination got one “ticket” represented by a song in the Songs for SuperBowl XLI iMix. If you had nominations in both Listmanias, you got two songs listed (max of one nomination per Listmania). The nominations from me and Mr. 939 did not count. I hit the random play button in iTunes, and We Will Rock You started playing. Since that was nominated by the Tabasco Man, he’s the winner!

SuperBowl XLI is coming up and all kinds of promotions and special announcements are abound. Pulpconnection wants to join in the fun and is having a SuperBowl Sunday Giveaway!

What’s being given away? Let’s start with a mix of tunes from the Songs for SuperBowl XLI as picked by you. The first 20 songs nominated will be given away to the lucky winner.

Is that it? What else? If the aural pleasures ain’t enough, then how about some visual excitement? The winner will also receive the inaugural Club 939 calendar. But wait, there’s more! This ain’t just any calendar. We’re talking the exclusive Club 939 calendar dedicated to Pulpconnection! Yes, I’m donating this rarity to the fans of Pulpconnection.

Cool! How do I enter? Easy enough, just submit an entry to the recent Listmanias:

Countdown to Ten Thousand: We Have a Winner!

The Countdown to Ten Thousand hits is now over, and we have a winner. And I can’t believe it. He called it, and he did it. Pulpconnection reader “-s” is the winner being the 10,001 visitor.

Countdown to Ten Thousand!

The Pulpconnection Prize Pack is still sitting here collecting dust, so it’s time to give it away. While looking at the stats of Pulpconnection provided by Sitemeter, I noticed that the site is at 9400 visits and approaching 10,000. So why not give the Prize Pack away to the 10,000th visitor?

The fine print. Visit counts are according to Sitemeter. While I can’t tell exactly who visitors are, I can get a pretty good guess by looking at the details (operating system, location, browser type, etc.). If I can’t tell who the 10,000 visitor is or if the visitor is not real (like a search engine crawler) then the prize goes to the visitor nearest to 10,000 but above 10,000. Contest open to devoted Pulpconnection readers.

Pulpconnection Prize Pack

From sponsor donations and collecting other stuff, I’ve managed to build up a Pulpconnection Prize Pack. So far in the prize pack are Aveda shampoo and conditioner from Elements Hawaii (now featuring virtual tours of their location), a VIP card to Club 939 that gets you in free (just once though), and a $5 gift card for Starbucks. I’ll even throw in a song or two from the iTunes Music Store or even a personalized single from Jessica Simpson!

Angry Asian Girl Has Met the Challenge

Baby Dog Days author, the Angry Asian Girl, has met my posting challenge by posting 6 posts in 5 days. I said she’d qualify as a Pulpconnection February is for the Fans giveaway if she averaged one post a day for five days. Read her posts about her idiosyncrasies and observational humor that even include her own pictures. There’s posts about Coca-Cola addicts, baby safety, restroom hygiene, bottle humor, and life on a Saturday with the Angry Asian Girl. Good stuff!!

What did she win? The original prize giveaway is T-Pain’s classic ho ballad, I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper) but frightened by POSH allegations, I’ll let her choose the (iTunes) song of her choice. Maybe Jesus Walks by Kanye West and featured on Jarhead or So Sick by Ne-Yo?? Her choice, she did good.
