Well, the workers there anyways. But yes, if you’re ever at the Costco location in Hawaii Kai, check out the kicks of the workers, especially those working at checkout. For the most part, the workers, both men and women, are wearing nice shoes.

Never really noticed this in the past, but have ever tried to eat healthy at the Costco food court? While you can’t beat the cost of the hot dog/soda combo, it can’t be that good for your body. Pizza, sandwiches, sundaes – all no so healthy.
Of course, the Caesar salad is the answer. Nothing healthier than a salad right? Just look at the calories.
650 calories for the chicken Caesar salad but look at the 610 calories of the beef brisket sandwich. 610!! Unbelievable. Next time I’m getting the beef.
Here I was looking for best prices of the Motorola SB6183 cable modem, but in the end, there was Costco. Strolling down the electronics section, lo and behold, there was the SB6183 at the same price as Amazon. 200 Mb/s here I come!
I can’t confirm this, but according to a Costco employee, they only make these Cinnamon Pull-a-Parts twice a year. Now and some other time she couldn’t remember. So I would be a little skeptical about this twice-a-year availability. But what you do have to know is that these are yummy. Soft and not too sweet (but it is sweet).
Best you buy a tray or two to sample these yourself since you never know when you may see these again.
If you’re looking for a good old umbrella, Costco is carrying the ShedRain brand, specifically the Ultimate Umbrella. This model looks similar to the WindJammer model that was previously recognized in The Wirecuter’s Best Umbrella category. But at around $17, I’m guessing the Ultimate Umbrella is different than the $35 WindJammer. Three colors are available – all black, black with polka dots, and red with polka dots.
What else did I spy at Costco Hawaii Kai edition? Lactaid milk is available, but not at the Waipio location (I checked). More good news, this Lactaid lactose-free milk doesn’t taste like a cow. Can you stock up and freeze milk??
Check out these fun puzzles. Watch the piece count though since there are 100, 500, and 1000-piece puzzles available. The Hawaii-themed ones are pretty cool.
Lastly, for you mayo lovers, this is for you. A whole “vat” of mayo, Just Mayo. I feel so greasy all of a sudden.
Bonus! For big kids, there’s this toy horse just in time for Christmas.
What’s good at the Hawaii Kai Costco?
Lego Star Wars Microfighters in sets of three. Typically around $10 each, the set of three goes for $24.99. There are two different sets.
Motorola Surfboard Extreme cable modem SB6141. The cable modem I bought in 2013, but I remember paying more than $75. Looks like the white model from the box.
And if you lost anything while shopping, they have a lost and found box at Customer Service. Is that a gold Nintendo DS I spy?
Oh, and the Christmas stuff is starting to make an appearance…in September.

Of course you recognize the lyrics from one of the best Exposé songs. The last time I referenced this song was back in October 2012 when Costco discontinued its pumpkin streusel muffins because, well, seasons changed. But for the time being, these seasonal muffins are now available at Costcos in Hawaii. Not sure if the supply is ramping up or dwindling so if you loved these last year, it’s best you get some now. Then crank up the Exposé.

Seems like both Costco and Sam’s Club both stopped carrying tart dried cherries. These are a good addition to morning oatmeal, but I haven’t seen them in months. Let’s see how these Stoneridge Orchards Whole Dried Tart Montmorency Cherries
Costco now sells a deep dish pizza to bake at home. Have you tried this gut buster?
While it takes an hour to cook, these pies are a good variation of the Costco pizza. The deep dish tastes similar to the regular pizza, only deeper, and saltier, and cheesier, and meatier. After two medium sized slices, you’re done.
The sausage toppings are huge nuggets, not crumbs.
Can you spot the layers of pepperoni lining the crust?
If you’re looking for pure carnivore pizza indulgence, pick up a pair of these deep dish, gut busting pies.
Just some of the items that caught my eye while shopping at Costco Iwilei. Oh and even though this location opens at 9am on Sundays, they must open a bit earlier. How else can shoppers be leaving with purchased items at 9:05?
I didn’t know glue dots were mainstream enough for Costco to stock.
Costco is up with modern tech too, selling these new 802.11ac Wifi access points.
I found some humor in the placement of the Windows 8 books next to books about Jesus. Not sure what the subliminal message is.
The clothing section was well stocked with piles of clothes that I couldn’t see the top of. Kinda backfires when you can’t easily browse.
I’d guess you’d find these kids books only in Hawaii.
Haven’t been to Costco for over a month and saw this at the Iwilei location. While work is being done in the refrigeration section, a new (temporary?) cold room has been added. Like the Hawaii Kai location, the cold room has the fruits and vegetables and is located far in the back corner where the toilet paper is.
Looking to get into basic home automation? Belkin is selling these WeMo controllable outlets. I would have considered these if I already didn’t make a Kickstarter commitment to SmartThings.
Seasons Change could very well be the best single by Exposé, and while this opinion has no relevance to this post, I do love that song. 😉
Back to the story… Supposedly today marks the end of Costco’s Pumpkin Streusel muffins. An employee said the bakery won’t be making these seasonal treats after today. So if you love these muffins, you might be able to find remaining batches. If you can’t find any, well then lament with Exposé and sing along.
