Finding the Fifth King Kamehameha Statue
Did you know there are only four commissioned statues of King Kamehameha? The four are located at:
- Downtown Honolulu, Oahu
- North Kohala, Hawaii’s Big Island
- National Statuary Hall, Washington D.C
- Hilo, Hawaii’s Big Island
So what was this I spied at the Castle junction on the Windward side?!?
Sure looks like a statue of King Kamehameha…
Heh, yes, this non-commissioned replica was erected on Friday, August 2, 2013 for a Hawaii Five-0 filming the following day. I might have seen Scott Caan in front of the statue but couldn’t quite tell (except for that hair). By Saturday afternoon, this fifth statue of King Kamehameha was already gone but an urban legend.
What Does “Lin Never Stops” Mean?
I’ll tell you what it means to me. The phrase “Lin never stops” means a $5 shirt at TJ Maxx for me! It’s a very simple shirt, orange and black Dri-Fit material with the phrase in the Futura typeface (so says the What the Font app).
Nonetheless, the timing of finding this Linsanity remnant is great with the screening of the Linsanity documentary at the Sundance Film Festival. Did you know that Brian Yang who plays Fong on Hawaii Five-0 produced this film? Yep, Fong isn’t just the behind-the-scenes tech wizard for 5-0. In his spare time, he and a film crew followed Jeremy Lin everywhere on his path to the NBA.
Until the Linsanity documentary gets picked up by a distributor, you won’t be watching JLin’s story unfold, so you might as well find yourself a Lin never stops shirt. If there are none at your local TJ Maxx, check out eBay.
Vote for Hawaii Five-0’s Alternate Ending
Who committed the crime? Was it theBoss, theTA, or theStudent? It’s up to the public to decide by voting for the ending you want to see on Hawaii Five-0’s January 14th episode. Go here to read the details.
Although Hawaii residents can’t influence the ending of the H50 showing in our time zone, I’d vote for #theTA since that’s the shortest one to type on Twitter. Yes, I’m lazy like that. 😉
Spotted Eye Eye Signs in Kailua
During their commute, folks in the Kailua area have probably seen these Eye Eye signs peppering the neighborhood. But what do these signs mean? Right now, these signs mean that Hawaii Five-0 is filming nearby!
Yep, McG could be taking down a bad guy. Danno could be booking’em. Chin Ho Kelly could be riding a Harley itching to bust out his shotgun (you notice Chin always has the shot gun), and Kono Kalakaua could be strutting around draped in Gem Parfait.
This morning the film crew must have had an early start. Yesterday, there were a few vehicles parked in the area (including the telltale Camaro). When driving by this morning, there were large tents already set up and many more cars and trailers parked in the normally barren field.
There were no sightings of the H50 cast or their hotness.
It’s Also Danno’s Birthday!
Ooops, sorry Scott Caan, didn’t mean the oversight, but I didn’t realize you share the same August 23 birthdate as Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin.
Happy H50 Birthday!
Gem Parfait on Hawaii Five-0?
In a future ep of Hawaii Five-0, watch the stylings of the female cast. You might see this Gem Parfait handmade, custom piece on the necks of Grace Park or Michelle Borth. So be sure to slow motion their scenes and study them carefully.
No H50 Nikes Spotted
Scanning pictures taken from the blessing ceremony for Season 3 of Hawaii Five-0, I didn’t see anyone wearing the custom designed Nike Free Trainer 5.0. These shoes needed an appearance at this event. 🙁
I’m hoping these kicks are seen sometime this season on or off air, preferably on air. C’mon H50, if you got custom kicks, you gotta book’em rock’em!
Hawaii Five-0 Hotness
Book’em Danno indeed! Check out these limited edition Hawaii Five-0 Nike Free Trainer 5.0. Made for the H50 cast, the customizations are mind blowing. Â “Book’em Danno” on the tongue, “Hawaii” and “Five-0” on the heel backs, and the sock liner with the names of the cast and their respective character names (sorry Kamekona). The colors are themed after the show’s logo.
You can see these H50 Free Trainers tonight as Daniel Dae Kim, aka Chin Ho Kelly, throws out the first pitch for the Philadelphia Phillies game.
I need me these kicks!!!
From Don Quijote to Danny Williams
The Don Quijote location in Kailua is no longer, but for a few days, it’s home to Hawaii Five-0.
Look closely, is that Danno’s Camaro back there?
Why, yes it is!
Waiting for This Hawaii Five-O Storyline and Guest
I admit that Hawaii Five-0 is doing a decent job mixing up plots, story lines, and nuances. In this week’s episode, tech-savvy Asian (is that redundant?) Chin Ho Kelly jury rigs a damaged car GPS to extract the dead driver’s destination. I’m waiting for the episode when the stumped Five-0 crew use Foursquare, Gowalla, and Yelp to track a victim’s recent whereabouts.
The episode would include stuff like this… A social media maven’s gone missing but his IRL friend knows Chin from small kid time. He tells Chin about the disappearance, and as a favor, Chin starts to investigate (and brings the other Five-Ohers). Through Foursquare mayorships, Gowalla check-ins, and Yelp reviews, the team is able to piece together the victim’s patterns to focus their search. But, you and I know that none of the Five-0 crew use any of these geolocation services, so they’d need to enlist some help. Enter Ryan Ozawa, aka @hawaii. As an omnipresent online entity, Ryan is, of course, “friends” with the victim and has access to his online profiles. Think of Ryan playing a specialist role akin to Masi Oka (Dr. Max Bergman), and he would be an old classmate of Chin at Kukui High.
I’d dig that episode! And is there any doubt that there would be a tweetup to watch its airing?
