Sorta. Apple’s newest version of iLife, the 2011 edition, will be available at Amazon.com soon enough. While the product is listed, it’s also temporarily out of stock, but if you can wait a bit, you’ll soon be enjoying all the new features of iPhoto, iMovie, and Garageband.
I’ve installed iLife 09 twice now (with the multi-user Family Pack of course!) and on both occasions, Quicksilver got messed up. Quicksilver is installed and still working, but it looks like its catalog of apps gets jacked.
Invoking Quicksilver to startup apps doesn’t bring up the correct app. For example, trying to run “Disk Utility” to correct disk permissions, I type in control-space to envoke QS then enter in d-i-s-k. Disk Utility is usually the top choice but not anymore. Not sure what’s up. Rebuilding the QS catalog fixes this so it’s not a permanent mess up, just an inconvenient one.
There are rumors that the upcoming Macworld Expo will showcase a version of iWork that lives in “the Cloud” aka the Internet. Instead of being traditional desktop applications, the iWork suite will be network services much like Google Docs.
What I would like to see is iLife’s iWeb component move to the Cloud. iWeb is Apple’s web page authoring app that I use occasionally. The biggest hangup for me using iWeb is that different Macs can’t (or have a very hard time) authoring/editing the same iWeb site. iWeb on one Mac is different from iWeb on another Mac. So I can’t easily start an iWeb page or site on my home Mac and work on it using a portable MacBook Pro.
Moving iWeb to the Cloud would make it similar to the web-based WordPress and Blogger. Of course, there could be a desktop client that connects to the service as well.

Thinking about a setup of an 20-in iMac dual screened with a 20-in Cinema display and another setup of a PowerMac connected to a Studio Display. Then the old PowerMac G4 with failing power supply can be retired.
Oh, that education promotion sale is still going… free iPod Nano… $99 off of a printer. Get the new iLife ’08 with the new iMac. Sweet deal (if I proceed).
