Signs of Hawaii: Park Art?
Do you consider this art or graffiti defacement at a local park?
I’m liking the planned out painted panorama featuring the angry pandas of Angry Woebot. Such detail make this artwork in my opinion.

With the recent torrential rains, Ala Moana Center has had its share of power problems. Sections of the mall have been without power during crucial shopping times. Starting on Sunday, December 19, there’s been hours of power outages. Here’s just a few of the makeshift signs informing patrons of the closures.
Starbucks in Macy’s had the best handmade signs.
Shirokiya offered this “apology.”
Strangely enough, for a store that caters to Japanese visitors, I didn’t see a sign written in Japanese. Just signs like the one above giving out “Mahalo’z”.
Macy’s didn’t even bother with signs. I guess they let common sense rule – doors locked, lights are off, we must be closed.
Even without electricity, the Apple Store was still open on a limited basis.
With the lights off, you still could buy an iPad.
I guess with charged iOS devices equipped with credit card readers and 3G wireless service, purchases could still go through??
The venerable TheBus, one of Mayor Frank Fasi’s legacies in Hawaii. During the Holiday season, TheBus is decked out Happy Holidays style!
Pulp reader, Yoda808, came across this buff ‘n blue handicap parking space, but not at Punahou.
I have no idea where this is, but the vehicle that normally parks here needs some maintenance done!
I thought a sign advertising Goats 4 Sale was isolated to the Windward countryside, but no. Apparently goat sales are popular on the Leeward side too.
The advertising must have worked since the signs are no longer there.
Urinals in the men’s restroom are a convenience, but if you forget what they are for, this sign can help you out. You see, you urinate in the urinal, you don’t defecate in it.
Thank you!
Props to @yoda808 for the pic!
If you’re ever on the Windward side looking for breakfast, you need to visit Cinnamons. Though it does get crowded in the mornings, especially on the weekends, the wait is well worth it. Here’s a snapshot of their daily specials.
You have to try their potent guava chiffon pancakes.
A favorite Friday takeout meal comes from Food Company. Their menu is extensive, but the specials (surf)board is where it’s at!
At the very top of the specials board is a new favorite, the seared ahi with jalapeno ponzu sauce (I call that “jalaponzu”). 🙂
