More insights about the demise of the still popular Flip video recorder.
Seems like the Flip still had lots of life and business in its product, line but Cisco still pulled the plug.

Had this problem emptying the Trash in Mac OS X Snow Leopard:
The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003).
Gigs of space were used by my non-emptying Trash. Came across this FAQ about the Trash in OS X which recommended the utility Trash It. Trash It lived up to its name, wiping out all the items in the Trash. Yay!
So Cisco is ending its Flip line of point and shoot video recorders. I’m sorta not surprised after owning a Flip camera.
The Flip is nice and easy to use, but… it isn’t the greatest thing either. It’s portable, and the video quality is good. But you really need to be within a few feet of the subject for good video, and even then, audio is not good. Compared to the video recording of the iPhone 4, I can see how the Flip became expendable. Instead of carrying a Flip and an iPhone, I’d prefer a single device, the iPhone, that has more functionality. That and I much prefer the audio quality of the iPhone recordings.
The moment of change for me was at the ArtSpree event. Granted this hula dancer started doing his thing adjacent to me, but after watching the captured HD video from the iPhone 4, I knew my Filp camera was no more.
Who doesn’t like the deals and discounts offered by group buying services like Groupon, Living Social, Play Hawaii, et alia? What I don’t like is tracking my purchases and redeeming my coupons from these services.
I have to check out some group buying iPhone apps to ease these pains. I’m talking no vouchers to print then forget at home. I not only want to see my purchases, but also be able to redeem my coupons when I visit the physical store similar to Starbucks Mobile Card.

Got some new goodies to play with…
That’s a Pogoplug (thanks to Ryan Kanno for the tip) and the Air Jordan CMFT Max 12 Fresh Water colorway. More later…
LL Cool J told us, “I Can’t Live Without My Radio” and neither could former cassette tape maker TDK. TDK has redesigned the venerable and bad ass boom box, and well, the new design has hints of a TDK cassette tape from back in the day!
The Boombox should be available soon.
I admit that I’m impressed by weebly.com. I’d never heard of this service before, but Time named it as one of the best websites back in 2007(!). With Weebly, you can easily create a web page or entire blog using drag and drop tools. The service is free and looks like an alternative to Tumblr and Posterous for those wanting to customize their sites.
Weebly is what Apple’s iWeb authoring tool should have been as part of MobileMe.
Now to think of a use for Pulp on Weebly…
Are you confused about the new 4G standard for wireless data? I am. What is it and what carriers have 4G networks? Technically, no one has 4G, but everyone touts 4G.
Want to understand more? Read this great wireless primer from Engadget called “2G, 3G, 4G, and everything in between.”
I know this isn’t what Dr. Martin Luther King meant when he said, “Let freedom ring,” but if you’re looking to free your data, check out the Pogoplug. With this device connected to your home/internal network, you get your very own “cloud” where you can store and share your stored information.
Thanks to @ryankanno for the lead.
