Better LEGO at Toys R Us
Over the holidays, the LEGO Store at Ala Moana was wiped out of the good stuff. They received the new 2013 sets right before Christmas, and accordingly, shoppers went on a brick-buying frenzy. There is some new stuff left but not much. Instead, I was surprised at the selection available at Toys R Us. I found all the sets I’d want, including the brand new Chima line that releases on January 1, 2013.
I missed out on getting Batman’s Tumbler, but this set makes up for it!
The new Chima sets are supposed to release on the first of the new year, but seemingly, they’re already out.
I don’t want a full-on AT-AT walker, so this is a nice, cheap alternative… with Yoda too!
So if you’re looking for a post-Christmas LEGO buy, check out Toys R Us.
Happy New Year!
After ringing in the New Year with Pop-Its, this trio of LEGO minifigures starts off Series 9 in 2013.
Not a bad start to my Series 9 collection. I don’t know why but the chicken suit guy makes me laugh.
LEGO X-Men Was Hot Yesterday
Not sure why but my LEGO X-Men post was hot yesterday, bringing in a lot of views. Here are Pulpconnection’s popular views for Thursday, December 27, 2012.
Kinda curious what triggered this spike (leading to 911 total views yesterday).
Holiday Gift Guide 2013: LEGO Back to the Future
Yes, you’re reading that right. This Gift Guide recommendation is for 2013, and it’s aimed at LEGO lovers. Sometime in the upcoming year, LEGO sets themed from Back to the Future will be in production. The genesis of this set was a LEGO Cuusoo project that got enough support from fans.
Here’s the announcement of this latest LEGO Cuusoo selection.

Might as well start your 2013 Christmas shopping now!
LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Ready for 2013
It sure feels like LEGO has quickened the pace of its Minifigures series. Series 8 came out in September 2012, and Series 9 will ring in 2013.
This set has some fun characters starting with the Chicken Suit Guy. I also like the Cyclops dude, Battle Mech, and the Alien Avenger. The Forest Maiden is good timing the the December release of the Hobbit movie. The Mermaid made up in a Starbucks montage? Why not.
Holiday Gift Guide: Hot Wheels Total Control Racer
In case you get the Hot Wheels Total Control Racing Stunt Park set, it comes with only one vehicle, and you’ll definitely need another to keep the peace with the kids. Finding the Racing Stunt Park on-island is doable, but finding extra cars is difficult. Target is out of stock, I don’t see any on the Walmart web site, and Toys R Us looks to have one car model available.
Amazon has a variety of Total Control Racers available to purchase to make this set more fun.
Ridermakerz at Costco
Looks like Costco just unpacked these Ridemakerz bundles this week. Customize your own Lightning McQueen!
I’m not sure if Toy’s R Us still carries Ridemakerz accessories. And yes, I can confirm that the Costco bakery did not have any more pumpkin streusel muffins.
Holiday Gift Guide: LEGO Ninjago Epic Dragon Battle
I covet this set. Even though I’m not a Ninjago follower, this set’s details are amazing. The multihead dragon is cool, the serpent shows wicked construction, and there are eight distinctive minifigures.
The hard part is personally justifying a $100 LEGO set…
